The Solomon Kane movie was better than I expected, and not nearly as “B movie” has I had feared. Not one of the ten great films of our time, but not too bad. The acting was decent if a bit stiff at times, and the dialogue and plot were good if heavy handed a bit. They even worked in an episodic feel that went with the style of the original source material. For what I was expecting anyway (lot’s of period action with supernatural elements and special effects) they did well. The fight scenes were solid and they actually kept the lots of whirling indecipherable stuff to a minimum. Effects were respectable to impressive in parts if not innovative.

I liked it enough that I’d probably watch a sequel if they made one.

Giving this one a B.
