Things are all official now, so I can announce the big news I’ve been keeping under my hat. No, not a real hat, that would be way too heavy to carry around unless I enjoy a sprained neck. And for the record, I do not.

Anyway.

LARRIKINbooks have acquired the rights to the first book in my post-industrial fantasy trilogy! It still seems a bit surreal (currently adjusting!), but Gearspire Book One is scheduled for release on Sept. 1st. Woot! If you can’t tell, I’m excited to work with the good folks over at LARRIKIN, as well as Rock and Hill Studio, who will be doing the cover and art type stuff for the book. They’ve been great already, and I can’t wait to see what we can come up with together.

Once upon a time (read 2012), this trilogy started out as a NaNoWriMo project. That 30-day story wound up as a 79k word manuscript that then swelled through successive drafts, fed by critique groups and feedback, to an epic length, and then divided via some kind of mystical linguistic mitosis, into a trilogy. Upon emerging from all of that I know the story is a thousand times improved from its first inception. I’m really pleased with how it came out.

I’ll admit I wasn’t sure what was going to come of this little story (shut up, that’s how it started), but as things move forward I’m very happy that it will be making its way into the wide world. Release day is still a few months away (staying calm), but a bunch more updates and details will be forthcoming over the course of the summer before then. I’ll keep posting info as I have it, or alternatively, use the box on the right to sign up for my mailing list, or sign up for the LARRIKINbooks Gazette on their home page.

I think that’s it for now. I’ve enjoyed the heck out of writing this book, and I’m hoping you all will enjoy it as well.

Get ready, Gearspire is coming.
