Into the Nanten

Into the Nanten

Into the Nanten returns tomorrow!

What’s that? Oh, you didn’t know? Then you better call somebody! Or, you know, keep reading as I’ll bring you up to speed.

Into the Nanten, the very cool creation of Jay Swanson, is the world’s first real time fantasy blog. It is effectively the journal of the story’s protagonist┬áMarceles na Tetrarch, and chronicles his exploits as he tries to survive in the world’s most hostile jungle.

Season 2 starts tomorrow, and if the first season was any indication, we should be in for a crazy ride. Last season, in no particular order, there were: cannibals, ghosts, slavers, spirit creatures, giant snakes, and more crazy magic than you can shake a stick at.

Oh yes, I did say magic. Not only is this story presented in a really unique way, but it’s just a plain cool fantasy story and the characters, setting, and world building are all top notch. In particular I found the magic in the world and the hints about how it works to be especially well done. To top it all off, not only is Jay’s writing great, but the blog is also filled with amazing artwork (the sketches in Marceles’ journal as it were) by the incredibly talented Nimit Malavia. I was consistently blown away by his work. And if that weren’t enough, if you’re of the audio format persuasion, Dennis Kleinman does a spot on job bringing Marceles to life in his podcast readings of the journal entries.

So you’re the sort who likes to check out something new, great! Season two starts tomorrow. If you’re the type who likes to binge consume past seasons, great! Season one is available in a bunch of different formats, including free right here. And if you’re the sort who loves free swag, great! A give-away is going on through tomorrow for a bunch of cool free stuff.

I highly recommend you check out Into the Nanten as soon as you can, you won’t be disappointed.
